International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church
The International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church
This is set for tomorrow, November third. The idop.org site shares this: "In the traditional church calendar, All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day
stand out in the month of November, set apart to remember the saints of
the church and the souls of those who departed this world. It is
fitting, then, that the modern church has
set apart the month of November to remember and pray for the persecuted
church, through the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted
Church (IDOP)." The National News and CBN's Christian World News has recently reported the account of many of our Brother's and Sister's in Christ being persecuted, jailed, and many killed for the faith. The stories of survivor's are inspirational to say the least. These martyr's are with our Savior. Let us pray for those left behind and still facing such intense pressure and such vicious persecution. You can do so at church, at home and alone. The above site (idop.org) offers free downloads of a video and an introduction to the organization.
Psalm 10:17 " You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry."
I also want to encourage you to visit "Voice of the Martyr's" website. There you will find a wealth of information, and many free tools for teaching your family and/or church. We use their materials in our homeschool during History, Geography, and Bible Classes from time to time. I use the monthly magazine as a prayer guide and for education, as well as, for inspiration. I cut out pictures, and we place them on a wall map to remind us to pray, and to keep up on world events.
The above picture is of some lavender blooming for the first time after many hard winters, on a friend's bush. It reminds me "There Is Hope" , in fact I labeled the picture, " HOPE."
Christians around the world are joining together in prayer tomorrow, as are even some from other faiths. Will you commit to pray? Visit the above sites, and then visit www.icommittopray.com and join the movement that has been spreading around the world! Keep on praying, let tomorrow be a new beginning in your own life and mine , to remember to pray for the world wide church. God be with you.
