Today is a day where we pause, breathe and realize how far we have come. We look at life and see if we have been keeping priorities in check. Where is life headed? How are we doing? Are there things we want to change?
This next week we will be reaching the end of our first nine weeks of this Homeschool year. My head has been spinning as we draw near each Sunday. It seems I went to sleep on Sunday night and woke up to find it Sunday again. Hubby and I joke that it must be this new decade of life.
Our daughter finished her first quarter of college today! Her Birthday is next week, another milestone. Again, where is the little girl who once danced on Daddy's feet? As they did when she was young, they will have a Daddy/Daughter date to mark this particular milestone. Their dates are precious memories so we decided it was a special way to mark her becoming a woman. She has chosen "Sushi" instead of once favorite, Taco Bell. ( I smile.)
My husband just celebrated three years at the same two jobs! If you know us and our nomadic tendencies, you know this is a huge milestone! We notice that we are more timid, and less adventurous these days. Again, maybe just settling into this new decade of life? Hmmm, maybe we are just starting a new type of adventure?
We remember our first child, lost to miscarriage nineteen years ago.
We celebrate my Daddy's life and ministry every October also. We celebrate the arrival of the birds from up North, the fronts from the west and the conclusion of hurricane season. We watch for the tropical temps to finally drop to a more comfortable level. We enjoy the beauty seen outside our windows and the butterflies, squirrels and "snowbirds" making their way into the community. Fall in our neck of the woods is different than in most the country. Yet, the same in other ways. We tend to settle in and enjoy the early setting of the sun. We find we long to spend more time with one another and long to join together in activities. We look with anticipation to the approaching Holiday Season and all it involves. We look back, we look forward and we look at today.
There are many questions left unanswered this Friday night. We have some decsions to make over the next few weeks and in the months to come. There is uncertainty for sure. How wonderful to know that God is the same today, yesterday, and tomorrow. We celebrate our love and commitment to Him and to each other as a family. As we press forward in the days ahead, we will be standing on the promises He wrote. What an adventure it is going to be!
Jer 29:11and 12 KJV:" For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you."
Jer. 29:11 and 12 NLT : "For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen."
