Security

Today there was a commercial about gold. It shared how the worth of the American dollar has dropped 20% sense 2000. The man then asked "Do you know where real security lies?" I responded to the commercial (yes, responded..) "JESUS CHRIST!" The man's voice quickly responded, "Gold"

My thoughts wandered to the scripture. I thought about how fleeting all is in life. What do we value? What does hold value? Do others realize that our only true security is in Jesus Christ ? He is the way, the truth and the life! The only way we can have hope, the only way we can truly find peace and security is through a personal relationship with He that holds the future!

"I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out - the plans to take care of you, not to abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for."
- Jeremiah 29:11 The Message

The dollar, gold, your earthly securities, none hold full security. As we've seen, these change with the political tide. The value will rise and fall despite your efforts. These securities do nothing to secure that your life will be trouble free. Even the rich get sick, even the rich die. Now don't get me wrong, you have a duty to provide and care for your family. Money is a necessity. A lot of miracles and blessed events occur because people have used their blessings for good.

The point I am trying to make is that we need to look at these "riches" in the right perspective. We need to realize where true security and value lie. Our relationships with family, friends, and community are eternal fruits that can come out of the investments of your life!

Invest your love, time, and helpfulness and you will have fruits in your store house far greater than gold! Realize that having Jesus Christ as your Savior brings you the greatest return on investment! He gives you a free gift - salvation; you invest your heart and devotion and receive eternal security (or in more delightful words - a future of grace, mercy, love, and hope).

"Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver."
Proverbs 8:18,19

Yes, Jesus is more precious than anything in this world! How often we forget this and try to find security in gold, family, friendship, other material posessions, and even reliance on ourselves! May we rely on Jesus to be our security and trust in Him alone.
